Well yogurt is a bit time consuming although there is not much hard work but waiting time is more. It is very cheap and easy to make and is a bit like cheese to some extent. Just before starting to prepare yogurt, you will need to be familiar with some facts and should have the ingredients required. I am telling you the list of ingredients required in making yogurt so that there is no problem in future and you do not get stuck during the process of preparing yogurt. Well yogurt is prepared by some active bacteria which are friendly in nature. These bacteria’s turns’ milk into yogurt, you can easily buy yourself a small pack of it which will help you out in preparing more at your home. But you will have to make it certain that the container of the yogurt have – “made by live cultures” written in it to get expected results. And you also need to take care of another thing that the yogurt you are buying is plain not flavored. Every time you prepare a yogurt, you will need an already made one, you can use your own yogurt after first yogurt but as the time passes and you make yogurts, from first one you make second, from second you make third and so on, your yogurt will loose its effectiveness and you will again need to buy from market to make it at home. Now I will tell you the procedure –

First of all wash up 2 canning jars (quart sized). Keep the lids and metal rings ready so that you can cover it when you are done. Pour 8 cups of milk into a cooking pot then heat it up to 183 degrees and when it reaches that temperature, allow it to cool down to 109 degrees. When it reaches 109 degrees, add up 1/3 cup powdered milk (to make your yogurt thick) along with 1/4 cup maple syrup and half cup starter yogurt and stir everything till the time of dissolving. Then you need to put the lids on (about which I told you before) and then put them in any place to incubate and then culture them. Leave everything for 9 to 11 hours and after that put them into refrigerator for 11 to 23 hours. And when everything is over, you are ready to have fun!
